Myths About CBD Oil

In recent years, CBD oil has gained more exposure in the media- from the health and medical community to politics and everyone in between. This year, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the prescription use of Epidiolex, a purified form of CBD oil (used for treating two forms of epilepsy). Due to this exposure, there has been a wider culture acceptance toward CBD oil.  There have been many studies and research done by the medical community that shine light on the benefits of CBD oil for humans and pets (link other articles I wrote). Despite the discovery of benefits on CBD oil for humans, there is still stigma and skepticism toward CBD oil as well as hemp and cannabis products. There are a few myths and misunderstands centered around CBD oil, it’s use, and the effects that it has on our bodies.

Myth #1: CBD Oil Will Cause You To Get High

CBD oil will never cause you to become high. In the cannabis plant, CBD is one of the many compounds, also known as “cannabinoids”. CBD oil is not the same as marijuana and its effects. Marijuana does contain both THC and CBD oil. THC is the compound in marijuana that causes you to be high. CBD is not psychoactive, which means that does not change your state of mind when you use it.

Myth #2: CBD Oils Are Illegal

Marijuana is not approved by the FDA, but that doesn’t mean that all hemp and cannabis related products are illegal. Many states have already passed laws legalizing medical marijuana and recreational use. May other states have decriminalized the possession of CBD oil. Check your state laws to make sure that CBD oil is legal in your area.

Myth #3: I Need A Medical Card Or Prescription To Buy CBD Oil

You are not required to have a medical card or prescription to buy CBD oil. Employers do not test for usage of CBD oil in drug tests.

Myth #4: CBD Oil Isn’t that Beneficial

CBD oil isn’t just for recreational use. There are many benefits associated with the use of CBD oil, including pain relief, anti-inflammatory properties, smoking and drug withdrawals, helping with epilepsy, neurological symptoms and disorders, fighting cancer, and anxiety disorders and more.

Myth #5: Higher Doses Of CBD Work Better Than Low Doses

Research and reports from clinicians and patients suggest that a synergistic combination of CBD, THC, and other cannabis components can be effected in low doses. Some of those doses can be as little as 2.5 mg of CBD. In fact, an excessive amount of CBD could be less effective therapeutically than a more moderate dose.

Myth #6 CBD Oil Products Only Come In The Form Of An Oil

While there are many CBD oils on the market, there is also a variety of CBD products on the market. Oils with a dropper are one of the many CBD oil products that you can purchase. CBD can be sold in many different forms and for many uses. Consumers can purchase everything from edibles to gummies, vaping, food and beauty products.
