Is CBD For you?

How do I know if CBD would be right for me?

Is CBD For you? CBD is known as the miracle plant, the cure-all, plant, the plant meant to help with almost any health issues. But how do you know if CBD is right for you, or better yet… Are you right for CBD?

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis (marijuana). While CBD is a component of marijuana (one of the hundreds), by itself it does not cause a “high.” According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

Is CBD Effective?

CBD is said to benefit a wide variety of health issues. But what CBD is most known for is effectively treating childhood epilepsy and other mental disorders such as depression. Multiple studies show CBD can decrease the number of seizures one has, and in some cases, it was able to stop them altogether. YouTube videos of the effects of CBD on these children and their seizures are readily available, and they are quite striking. Recently the FDA proved the first-ever cannabis-derived medicine for these conditions, Epidiolex, which contains CBD.

Will it make me sleepy?

Relief from anxiety and depression with CBD is also supported by clinical research. For patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep

What Should I Consider When Purchasing CBD?

The first thing to consider is why you want to take CBD. Though it’s being touted for numerous possible health benefits—and some preliminary research suggests it might help with everything from pain and anxiety to multiple sclerosis and opioid addiction—for now it’s clearly proved to help treat only two rare, but devastating, forms of epilepsy.

While the dose of CBD is unique for everybody, there is a general rule of thumb that can be used to determine an estimated dose based on your weight and the strength of effects you’re looking for (low, medium, and high strength).

How do I Know I am Taking the Right Dosage?

One is making sure that plants do not absorb any of the potentially harmful chemicals that might be in the soil. The other is how much of the plant’s two key compounds they contain: THC, which gets users high, and CBD, which is gaining increasing attention for its potential health benefits. The more CBD you take, the stronger the effects. Some conditions require relatively strong CBD doses to offer any benefit — others may only need a low strength to provide notable results.

The easiest way to find your optimal dose of CBD is to identify your “low strength” dose for your weight. Alternatively, you can use the calculations listed above to find the dosages based on your weight manually. To make dosing easier, you can convert your dose into drops next. The number of drops you need to hit the dose will depend on how potent it is.

Knowing the drop dosage is useful when working with high potency CBD oils. It’s also useful if you’re using CBD oil for pets or with children where even slight changes in the dose can make a big difference.

Hemp Seeds Have Nutritional Value

Hemp seeds are a superfood! They are full of nutrients such as protein, antioxidants, essential fats, fiber, vitamins B and E, magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, and phosphorous. Incorporating hemp seeds to your dietary intake will supply you with a rich profile of nutrients. Hemp seeds can also be processed into milk, flour, and protein powders.

How you take it

There are a few different ways to use CBD. The form matters when it comes to how much you should take, how it is absorbed by your body, and how quickly it takes effect.
The different forms include:
1. oils and tinctures
2. edibles
3. pills and capsules
4. creams and lotions
5. vaping
Doses might vary depending on how you decide to use cannabidiol. For instance, a standard dose in CBD gummies is around 5 milligrams per gummy, while tinctures and oils contain about 1 mg per drop. Capsules and edibles can also take longer to kick in than a spray or tincture.

What you are using it for

People use this miracle plant to treat everything from nausea to arthritis pain. What you are using it for matters when deciding how much and if you should take it. For instance, the Arthritis Foundation recommends starting slow with just a few milligrams of a sublingual form of CBD twice a day and increasing the dose by the same amount after a week if you do not get enough pain relief.

Is CBD For you?
When should it start working?

It depends on how you take it. Edibles, such as gummies, must go through your digestive tract before they are absorbed into and spread through the body. By the time this happens, the actual amount of CBD that ends up in your system could below. Another form, such as a tincture that you take sublingually, gets absorbed directly into your bloodstream, meaning it kicks in faster. Here is a look at how long it generally takes to feel the effects of different forms:

Edibles: up to 2 hours
Tinctures sublingual sprays: 15 to 45 minutes
Topicals: 45 to 60 minutes
Vape products: 15 to 30 minutes

What If I Do Not Feel Anything, Should I Take More?

Re-dosing is one of the most common reasons why people end up taking too much of anything. If you take more too soon, you could end up with unwanted effects. Again, even at high doses, but that does not mean it is harmless. Taking too much might result in:

1. diarrhea
2. fatigue
3. appetite and weight changes
4. A recent animal study also showed that high doses of CBD may cause liver damage.

How long will it last?

In general, the effects last from 2 to 6 hours, depending on how you use it, how much you use, and your tolerance. To better understand how your body reacts to it, take some general notes when using CBD, including:

1. the amount you took and how you took it
2. when you started feeling the effects
3. how strong the effects were?
4. how long the effects lasted

Extra Tips You Should Know When Using CBD

Shop smart. CBD products are largely unregulated in the United States. Mislabeling and poor-quality control, including significant discrepancies in strength and undeclared THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, are an issue. Only shop from trusted, licensed dispensaries.

Ask a professional. A healthcare provider who knows your medical history is the best person to go to for advice about how much you take. As knowledgeable as sales staff maybe when it comes to CBD products, they are not healthcare providers. Your best bet is to consult both.

Use it before bedtime. Drowsiness is one of the most common side effects of Cannabidiol. Unless your healthcare provider advises otherwise, using it at bedtime — or when you have time to chill if you need to — is a good idea, at least until you know how your body responds to it.

Verde
